Seminar Youth Leadership for Advocacy

From January 10–17, SFERA International went to Barcelona, Spain, to take part in the KA1 seminar on mobility for youth workers. The aim of the seminar was to promote advocacy among youth workers. Advocacy is a good way to make the world a better place and help people in need, including young people. Through advocacy, young people can create social awareness about some of the most urgent global challenges. This seminar taught us how to understand advocacy as part of our job as youth NGOs, how to encourage and help young people take on leadership roles as advocates, how to focus on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are needed to advocate successfully, and how to collect valid tools and activities to develop and recognize advocacy as competence.

These objectives were reached by sharing inspiring stories, practices, and experiences about advocacy actions done by promoter organizations at local, regional, national, European, and international levels.
During the activity, we used non-formal and intercultural learning methods like workshops, games, role-plays, debates, and group exercises to help people learn how to be good advocates.
