ECHO Academy in Bitola Kicks Off with Sfera International today!
Delving Deep into the Rich Musical Traditions of Bitola:
• 10 handpicked artists explore the ritual song heritage of the Bitola region, including songs about the calendar cycle, life cycle, pagan holidays, and more.
• Bitola, as the whole country,, boasts both traditional and contemporary musical treasures. From the UNESCO-listed “Hidrellez” Spring celebration to the iconic “Kopachkata” dance, we celebrate the rhythms that bind our culture together.
What’s in Store for the Artists?
• Get inspired by Bitola’s ritual songs, channeling their creativity into either traditional or contemporary music compositions.
• Engage with music historians, partake in traditional music celebrations, and collaborate with local Bitola musicians for a holistic learning experience.
• Harness the power of applied art using sustainable and recyclable techniques.
Rewards & Recognition:
• Each artist will craft a unique music concept, drawing inspiration from Macedonian ritual songs and their immersive 3-week journey in Bitola.
• The top 3 standout artists will receive a grant to record their musical masterpiece!

• While the academy will feature guided tours in Bitola and Skopje, the central hub of activities is the Youth Center Bitola (Krushevo 5 Bitola).
