On the 12th of February took part an initiative organized by Patricia, from SFERA Macedonia, about long term travel tips.

In this workshop, that got the Room 4 of the Bitola’s Red Cross crowded, Patricia talked about her personal experience travelling without too much money or luxury.

There are some steps that should be taken when someone wants to start travelling. Firstly, it’s important to decide where to go, what to do and how long to be away. It’s also essential to save money and to have a notion of the costs of the chosen destination. The final steps include buying the ticket, researching sights or activities and booking or planning the accommodation.

In this workshop was also given some pre-journey advice, slow travel tips and were presented some platforms to help traveling without many costs, such us European Voluntary Service (EVS), AIESEC, Idealist, Workaway, World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF), Housesitting and other websites. Paid work is also a possibility, working as a digital nomad, for example.

There are some sharing options, such as Blablacar, Couchsurfing, Airbnb, Guesthouses, Hostels, or Hitchhiking, that can be extremely useful for people without a lot of money to spend.

The workshop finished with some useful tips and final words of wisdom. It was a great opportunity of knowing more about travelling without spending too much money, perfect for those who want to go on such an adventure.
