Travel with a low budget it`s possible?
December 28, 2018Upcycling is transforming old things and turning them into something new without breaking the product down into its raw materials. Instead, upcycling takes an old object and gives it new life.
Why is it so important?
Because the population on earth is constantly growing, also the amount of waste that humankind produces is growing correspondingly. Aluminum can? 200-400 years. Plastic jug? 1 million years to forever.
Instead of filling up the landfills more and more, it is the high time to consider other solutions such as recycling and upcycling. A lot of different products in the home and community can be made available for reuse or upcycling, such as furniture, clothes, textiles, cans, bottles, bicycles, toys, tools etc.
Another important step that should be taken is actually raising awareness among youth as the future lies in their hands. Promoting upcycling, eco-classes, documentaries and interactive lessons in schools are not only on behalf of nature but also very essential for the next generations.
As plastics have contaminated just about everywhere in the environment, especially in oceans, ways of reducing the amount of plastic that is used and suggesting reusing and recycling could be promoted in schools.
One of the projects that could be created from used plastic is making pencil cases using plastic bottles. Some glue and a zipper to complete the project with students! Easy and small steps can change the way people look at things.
